Putting an end to homelessness in Cincinnati and Hamilton County

On August 30, 2010, the CoC, Inc. announced that the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati will operate a new, separate shelter for single homeless women. The  The 2009 Homeless to Homes Plan called for establishing a separate emergency shelter for women based on research showing that more women will use a women-only facility than a co-ed facility.  The Drop Inn Center currently operates a 42-bed women's shelter in Over-the-Rhine. The YWCA has 60 beds for women and families in its domestic violence shelter, more than half of which are at times occupied by single women. Read more about the selection process and next steps here.
